Summer 2010

  • Meaningful Use Certification Criteria are Finalized
  • First ONC-ATCBs (bodies to certify EHR vendors like MediTouch®) are authorized

Fall 2010

Winter 2011

    CMS also has announced important dates for the Medicare and Medicaid incentive programs' first year:

  • January 3, 2011 — Registration for the Medicare EHR incentive program begins.
  • January 3, 2011 — States that are ready may launch their incentive programs for Medicaid providers.

Spring 2011

  • April 2011 — Attestation for the Medicare EHR incentive program begins.
  • May 2011 — Issuing of Medicare EHR incentive payments expected to begin.

Fall 2011

  • November 30, 2011 — Last day for eligible professionals to begin their 90-day reporting period for calendar year 2011 to demonstrate Meaningful Use for the Medicare EHR incentive program.

Winter 2012

  • December 31, 2011 — Calendar 2011 payment year ends for eligible professionals.
  • February 29, 2012 — Final day for Eligible Providers to register and attest to Meaningful Use to receive an Incentive Payment for the 2011 calendar year.

2014

  • 2014 is the final year to initiate participation in the Medicare EHR Incentive Program.

2015

  • In 2015, Medicare payment adjustments begin for Eligible Providers and eligible hospitals that are not meaningful users of EHR technology.

2016

  • 2016 is the final year to receive a Medicare EHR Incentive Payment.
  • 2016 is the final year to initiate participation in the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program.

2021

  • 2021 is the final year to receive a Medicaid EHR Incentive Payment.
