Post and Apply Insurance Payments

For payers that do not send Electronic EOB^® / ERA files, HealthFusion^® makes it easy to manually apply insurance balances, and patient payment posting prompts within Check In / Check Out processes help the user to collect at the point of service.

HealthFusion's Payment Posting feature allows the user to post insurance and patient payments and to categorize the payment properly.

Key Benefits:

• Insurance payment posting prompts the user to differentiate between paper checks and Electronic Funds Transfers (EFTs).
• Users are prompted to input payment level adjustments (late charges, interest penalty, etc.) when completing the insurance payment post.
• An easy-to-use payment search engine assists the user in finding specific payments that require review.
• For payers that do not send electronic remittance, a simple interface is available for manually applying payments.
• Users have the option of applying payments at the claim or service level for reporting purposes (HealthFusion^® encourages service level application of payments when possible).

When applying payments, HealthFusion's system will automatically convert the adjustment reason to the standard HIPAA group and reason codes. This is a powerful feature that facilitates the comparison and reporting of all adjustments regardless of whether the remittance was conveyed electronically or via paper. Users can also customize the payment application process by assigning shortcut keys to certain frequently used adjustment reasons.

The expected fee as determined by HealthFusion's Fee Schedule feature is displayed next to the allowed amount for a quick comparison of the allowed amount to the contracted amount, making any underpayments transparent.

Posting and applying payments is a repetitive, sometimes tedious, but necessary process for all practices.
