Important Meaningful Use Update

On Tuesday October 6th CMS released the final rule for this year. The final rule for this year also discusses Meaningful Use in years 2016 and 2017. In addition the final rule for Meaningful Use Stage 3, which becomes mandatory in 2018 was released. Senator Calls for Meaningful Use Stage 3 Delay

Last week, Republican Lamar Alexander – U.S. Senator for Tennessee and chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee – proposed to delay the start date of Meaningful Use Stage 3. His proposal reiterates the recommendations he made back in July of this year. On April 10, 2015, CMS released a proposed rule that would dramatically change the Stage 1 & 2 Medicare and Medicaid (EHR) Incentive Program for this year and until Stage 3 is mandated. On April 10, 2015, CMS released a proposed rule that would dramatically change the Medicare and Medicaid (EHR) Incentive Program, and affect CMS Meaningful Use. If you’re planning to participate in one of the Meaningful Use Stage 2 public health measures as part of your attestation in 2015, CMS reminds you that the deadline to register with your public health agency (PHA) is March 1, 2015. The measure requires that you notify your PHA or other body to whom the information will be submitted of your intent to initiate ongoing submission of information within 60 days of the start of your EHR reporting period. Breaking News: CMS Extends Meaningful Use, PQRS Deadlines to March 20

CMS has announced that it is extending the deadline for eligible professionals to attest to Meaningful Use for the 2014 reporting year from Feb. 28 to March 20, 2015. CMS says that EPs now have until 11:59 PM ET on March 20 to comply with the EHR attestation deadline. CMS also announced that the EHR reporting option for PQRS has been extended to March 20, 2015.
